Outsourcing the Management and Running of Business IT systems

This is the delegation or outsourcing of the management and running of a business’ IT systems (servers, email, application software and backups) and computer related management to a ‘host’ provider such as DPS. By moving to a hosted and managed service, software and systems that is traditionally run in house from a desktop PC is run over the internet in virtually the same fashion. All that is required is broadband internet access to the DPS data centre.

System Recovery, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Case Management, Accounts and Digital Dictation are all available from the hosted platform. All applications are updated automatically for the user with no down time. Updates are carried out overnight or out of working hours by an off site supervisor allocated to the practice.

2 Citrix & Windows & operating systems

Any new recommend and tested patches approved by your IT department (that is your host) are updated automatically by our in house team. If a new release is not be implemented then your IT team (the host, us) give you a report of why it is not being done and why.

3 MS Exchange, Office & SQL products

Outlook and Exchange – the Exchange database is large and contains a huge amount of information that needs to be managed and archived periodically. This can be a major task and is undertaken by DPS periodically and out of office hours. SQL and its performance is an integral part of the operation of your business and DPS ensure that it is always running at optimum speed. We have dedicated SQL servers to ensure peak performance. All our costs to the practice include provision of SQL and appropriate licenses for all users.

4 Outlook Web Access

All users are able to access their entire Outlook application over the internet from any browser with no additional software or Citrix connectivity required. This is ideal for home or remote users as this connection does not require any software to be set up.

5 DPS Web Access

The DPS Web Access module is a software package that allows you to use DPS over the internet inside a browser, functionality that is unique to DPS Software. This software is available to all hosted users as part of the overall cost.

7 Surf Control

It is the responsibility of every business to ensure that harmful material is not brought on site. Surf Control Software controls users’ access to the internet, monitoring which sites they have visited and what they have downloaded.

8 Microsoft Security Updates

Periodically Microsoft or other main software suppliers will provide security updates and responsibility falls to every business to ensure that they have applied these updates. DPS Software is a Microsoft Partner, and as a result, all Microsoft Security Updates are received and applied automatically on your behalf.
