E-billing, as defined by ACE, allows comprehensive cost and billing reports to be submitted online, in real-time, by the solicitor. Some of the advantages over paper or hard copy billing are:

• Speed of information transfer (via XML) from the solicitor to the funder.

• Reduced data entry (for the solicitors' practice and funder), as cost data is immediately “imported” into the funders own systems for processing.

• Reduced administration since data input is automated, allowing more work to be processed by the funder.

• Accurate running case costing for both the solicitor and the funder.

The Advocator System™ is where “LSG has developed its own proprietary litigation management application, which is web based and enables users to perform E-billing, Case, and Financial Management activities online. The patented software application is designed for use on a global basis, allowing for multi-currencies and accommodating many regional jurisdictional structures and formats.”

Dolores achieved this with limited help from the DPS programming team; she was able to develop the system herself due to its' sheer flexibility and ease of use. Her main role within the firm is to understand legal workflows; Dolores is not a programmer and has no programming skills.
