HIPs & One Office (2 May, 2007) |
HIPS are due on the 1st of June 2007 and many firms are still undecided exactly how they will deal with them. Some have decided to do the HIP themselves and others chosen to link to a HIP provider and instruct them. All firms need to have a clear strategy about HIPs and need to let their clients and work providers know exactly what this strategy is. You will need to (if you haven’t already) produce material on your preferred method of handling the HIP and how this will meet the needs of clients and work providers.
DPS One Office gives you the option of doing the whole HIP yourself including accepting online instructions, doing the HIP, then publishing the results or instructing HIP providers such as HIP HOMES or MDA (the law society solution).
The chances are that the firms that do the HIP will also do end up doing the conveyancing and no one wants to lose this potential source of business.
DPS have produced a guide to HIP’s using One Office which is available as a booklet from the web site. This shows you how to adjust your system to do HIPS and how to publish the pack to the internet. It also covers getting instructions on line.
