LSC LOSES APPEAL (30 November, 2007) |
It has been announced that the Legal Services Commission (LSC) have lost their appeal regarding the Unified Contract, on the grounds that their current power of amendment is too wide. The implication of this decision is that there may be a greater need for the LSC to re-tender for contract changes.
The LSC have made allowances for this, having fully expected the outcome of the appeal. They have stated their intention to continue with the legal aid reform programme for criminal work, with the anticipated new six-month contracts due to be introduced in January still in place.
