LSC Paper Submissions Banned!  (27 June, 2008)

The Legal Services Commission has today announced the termination date for paper submissions…for one month’s time.

All paper submissions received by the LSC from the 11th July onwards will be rejected. From that point, all files will need to be submitted electronically such as through a Case Management system.

The cut off date for Paper Submissions will be a swift change for firms that have not prepared themselves for the possible changes. But, the electronic submissions will ultimately minimise the LSC’s time and cost burden on incorrect or incomplete submissions.

With this announcement, the LSC has also called for a clear cut off date for relevant cases for the submitting month. Beginning with July submissions (submitted in August), only those cases that have a conclusion date by the end of July will be accepted; any cases that conclude in August will be rejected.

There are clear advantages for firms that use an electronic submission program. With quality Case Management systems, any missing data can be flagged before submission and the fee-earner can also make easy amendments and corrections, therefore minimising the number of rejected claims.

Having a Case Management system will also limit the amount of disruptions the firm experiences for LSC amendments. With each new change, DPS can make the necessary amendments seamlessly in the background, ensuring that your work is always compliant and up to date, with minimal disruption to your work day.
