ACE and Legal Solutions Group (LSG) recently announced an e-billing facility to all ACE's key legal services providers. The initiative is part of the ACE legal activities management program (LAMP). The advantages to everyone are clear. A supplier will raise a bill or claim for work over a period of time on a specific matter and send it to LSG electronically for checking. The bill/claim is checked and returned to the supplier electronically. The supplier then takes the returned approvals for say 3 months (if they bill quarterly) and raise an invoice from their accounts system reflecting all the approvals that were received from LSG. The advantages are obvious, no queries about invoices after they are actually raised, the content has already been approved. Any query is dealt with electronically in the month that it arises with clear rules about how and which time is billed.

DPS have created a patch for their software that creates the monthly claim/bill for matters from the case file. The on going development is intended to take the emailed approval and automatically attach it to the correct case. The invoice will then be automatically raised from the DPS accounts system periodically on demand.

DPS users can request this patch from support from the 20 December 2004 onwards; it will also be available on the web site.
