Law 2007
London, Olympia

"You may be disappointed if you fail but doomed if you dont try"

Law2007 was far busier than most firms expected and the DPS stand saw a steady flow of visitors that were keen on fully integrated systems. The requirements seem to have changed from best of breed to fully integrated solutions. There seems to be more focus on saving time and money. Solicitors seemed to be eager to adopt solutions that pulled together digital dictation, case management control and accounts.

Shaping The Further of Conveyancing Conference
Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

On The 15th February DPS were proud to be a main sponsor of the conference in Newcastle. The event was extremely well attended with over 80 delegates attending. The delegates were eager to discover the latest movements within HIP’s, Property E-Commerce, E-Conveyancing and also what conveyancing is moving towards in the future.

The conference had many speakers from Denis Purshouse, a policy advisor from the department for communities and Local government to Paul Clark from Dickinson Dees who commented on the PISCES standard and HIPs.  It was found to be very useful having a Q&A session at the end of each speaker’s session. This caused many lively discussions in the forum.

It was clear that the government is definitely going to roll out HIPs on the proposed date this year and the voluntary area trials had gone very well.

The event was very well organised and provided a great deal of thought for delegates thanks to the broad array of speakers and the objective manner in which the information was presented.

  Islington Exhibition 2007 (12/02/2007)

DPS reported an interesting exhibition at Legal IT in London at the Business Design Centre. Always busy the staff on the DPS stand took a high number of serious enquiries from firms that were looking to improve office efficiency with fully integrated accounts, digital dictation, and case management systems.

How Will Carter Affect You (01/10/2006)

The Carter Reforms will be the most significant change to Criminal Billing since the abolition of the Legal Aid Board. The report is 204 pages long with 62 separate recommendations that if implemented will change the way crime firms are run.

Although the LSC is still in a period of “consultation” with respect to the changes, the general feeling is that the premise of the Carter report will be adopted by the Commission.

  Delegating IT! (14/07/06)

Large businesses have realised the benefits of outsourcing their IT needs for some years. Now larger legal practices like Clifford Chance are following this lead. The realisation that maintaining your own IT systems involves skills that are not often readily available and moreover IT people need management and constant updating of their own skill sets.

  DPS Web Based Diary (12/07/06)

Legal Software innovators DPS Software have designed an online practice wide diary system to solve the problem of managing multiple fee earner diaries and volume information.

  Integration at JD Spicer (27/06/06)

Integration inevitably leads to efficiencies and immense cost savings. Often integration means linking the accounts and case systems. DPS have taken this one step further by fully integrating their digital dictation system Team Talk to their accounts and case systems. This means that all the core practice systems use a single Microsoft SQL database giving a practice a fully scaleable system...
